1) M. Kaindl
Holzindustrie: World-wide success with value
added wood based materials and laminated flooring:
The Austrian family
business, M. Kaindl Holzindustrie, with its registered Head Office in
Salzburg ranks amongst the leading producers of improved and modified wood
materials and laminated flooring in the international market. With some
700 employees, the company's annual turnover is over Euro 215 million.
More than 80 per cent of the production is exported to more than 50
countries worldwide. The product range extends from raw MDF and chipboard
to added value ranges , such as veneered ,laminated and melamine faced
boards through to laminated panels, edgings, worktops and window-sills, to
mention but a few. In the laminate flooring sector, Kaindl are recognised
as one of the world's leading and most experienced suppliers.
M. Kaindl Holzindustrie is one of the pioneers in the development and use
of new technologies and innovative processes. One example of this is to be
seen in the company's continuous press technique which is both
energy-saving and environmentally-friendly, but still allows for economic
and efficient production.
TKaindl require very short delivery times for the majority of their
products and are able to rely on a highly developed logistics system. In
1997 Kaindl took over the company Welz, a forwarding agent who had for
many years operated independently and successfully as Kaindl's logistics
partner. Welz has an efficient operating network of branch offices in the
newly emerging democracies of Eastern Europe and is strategically placed
to enable Kaindl to boost sales with efficient service to the growing
demands of the East European market - at the same time , maintaining a
smooth flow of huge quantity of container traffic leaving the Kaindl
factories. For even further efficiency a new logistics centre is coming on
stream right next door to the Company's Salzburg works.
2) New: "Kaindl
Colour Combinations 2001" offers a huge
selection of decorative designs: At
the trade fair BAU 2001 in Munich, M. Kaindl Holzindustrie will be
presenting its new "Colour Collection 2001" for value added wood
based materials to the public for the first time. With this latest
development the Kaindl-Collection will be considerably extended to contain
no less than 105 decorative designs. The "Colour Collection 2001"
includes decorative panels, laminated panels, melamine edgings, ABS
edgings, work tops, and window-sills. This new collection can be seen to a
particularly good effect in the new work top range - which has the added
attraction of matching accessories - for example, with the wall-fitting
system in matching decorative finish. The Colour Collection is totally harmonised with the present trend with
grey-tones such as silver grey, titanium, techno and platinum. The very
latest highlights include the ice-pearl decors in white, mint and grey,
and also the fantasy-rich decorative design creations "Ming" and
"Window" in the same tones. Bold colours are offered with rich
yellow, red, blue, and green.
In the decorative wood finishes the light tones such as birch, maple,
beech, and pear-tree continue to dominate. But the trends towards darker
shades such as Wenge, walnut, oak, and red alder continue to gather
momentum. The selection of fantasy and stone decorative designs has been
extended with ten new designs such as "Grainy" (white, beige,
grey and blue), "Lacano" (pale beige and pale blue) and others.
Especially in the worktop and window sill ranges - a comprehensive
assortment of design options are now available.
3) MDF
Production running at full capacity:
The new MDF production
plant at M. Kaindl Holzindustrie has been running at full capacity for the
past year. This high-tech facility incorporates the very latest
technological developments and assures optimum operational reliability.
Ten per cent of the total investment cost, of around Euro 87 million, was
spent on implementing the most up-to-date environmental protection
measures. With this new MDF production plant, optimum service to customers
and greater flexibility catering for customers' requirements is assured
for many years to come. Kaindl customers have already been able to benefit
from a globally outstanding logistic system and now , a new logistics
centre with a 30.000 m2 storage area is under construction directly next
door to the Salzburg works.
The wood based material of the future , MDF (medium-density fibre board),
is finding an assortment of outlets throughout the building construction
and renovating sector as a whole. MDF panels are used as the supporting
material for laminated floorings, and are also suitable for processing
into specially designed furniture fronts and back walls, panels and
strips. Kaindl uses 50 % of the MDF panel production in manufacture of its
own laminated flooring. At the trade fair BAU 2001 in Munich, Kaindl
demonstrates with various lacquering techniques just how versatile and
effective the modified and improved wood material MDF is in application.
By virtue of their smooth surface, Kaindl's MDF panels are excellent for
veneers, decorative films, and lacquer finishes and also for machining ,
routering etc
4) Versatile in
Use: Work Tops System Products from Kaindl:
The Work Top
Programme by M. Kaindl Holzindustrie is extremely versatile in
application: not only in kitchens, but also in the construction of tables,
bars, workbenches and also furniture fronts and throughout the furniture
industry and interior design sector as a whole. The wide selection of
highly fashionable and classical decorative finishes is perfectly
accompanied by the innovative variety of edging designs. Highly popular
are the high-gloss finish panels which can be incorporated with optimal
effect in the bar sector, for example. Furthermore, the new design in work
tops can be used in conjunction with edgings of high-grade acrylic and ABS
plastic materials or with 3D-edgings and solid wood edgings in different
colour designs. In the decorative designs, diverse corian-like stone
optical effects and also fantasy and mosaic designs are setting the tone
while Beech, cherry, and maple in particular are favourites amongst the
wood tones.
A further highlight of the trendy Work Top Programme is the comprehensive
accessories programme that leaves nothing to wish for. One can choose from
a multitude of accessories such as ventilating grilles, connecting
profiles, corner elements, and niche back walls - or even matching
wall-fitting profiles, or edgings and many others.
5)
Kaindl expands programme of glue-less installation
systems The
glue-less installation systems "Snap by Kaindl" with the
universally popular collection "Bigfoot" and the "Clip
Connection System" have been reinforced by "Snap plus".
With this new product development, for which a patent is pending, it is
now possible to provide floor panels with a coating of reactive glue
before they leave the production works. This innovative installation
technology will be of particular benefit when a laminate flooring is
subject to extremely heavy wear. As a logical further development of the
automatic "Snap-Tight Mechanism", a thin layer of special glue
is applied by machine to the inside of the groove. This special glue can
be reactivated at the time of installation. By virtue of the exact
placement of the glue (by the pre gluing machine), the possibility of any
contamination is ruled out and there is no excessive glue to be removed.
The result of this simple, fast and clean installation method is a glued
,laid floor in the shortest possible time which will stand up to even the
heaviest of wear.
Laminated floorings with the automatic "Snap-Tight Mechanism"
are now available from in ten decorative finishes (two best selling
designs each in beech, cherry, and maple, and also one best selling design
each in oak, walnut, birch and antique pine). In addition from Spring 2001
the successful Kaindl products "Unite" and "Unite
Countrystyle" will be available fitted with the glue-less
installation system "Clip Connection System (CCS)" The whole
glue-less CCS installation system will consist of 31 decorative designs.
Depending on requirements, therefore, "Unite" and "Unite
Countrystyle" can be installed either in the conventional manner with
glue, or without the use of glue, namely by means of the high-grade steel
CCS-Clip .
6) New:
Laminate Floorings with Panel Heating:
As of now, laminate
floorings from Kaindl can be fitted with electric panel heating. With this
innovative product development the company has reacted to the
increas-ingly more stringent legislative requirements concerning the
thermal insulation of buildings*. Kaindl laminate floorings, which are
fitted with a patented sandwich tech-nology remain under the lowest
threshold values required by law for the new installa-tion of fixed
built-in electric heating. The law now stipulates that the thermal
insulation technical standard of a low-energy house must be complied with.
This means that Kaindl laminate floorings with panel heating are also
ideally suited for installation even in old houses undergoing renovation.
This future-oriented floor heating system from Kaindl has been tested for
market feasibility in co-operation with the Institute for Building
Materials and Building Construction Physics at Innsbruck University.
The electric panel heater sandwiches are bonded onto the reverse side of
the lami-nate flooring and with an operating voltage of 12 volts deliver a
heat output equiva-lent to 10 Watts per square metre. With a 24 V
operating voltage the heat output reaches the equivalent of 40 Watts per
square metre. For heating up processes with a temporary input of 48 volts
it is possible to attain a unit-area-related heat output equivalent to 160
Watts. The maximum surface temperature of approx. 25-27 °C is assured
by the ideally adapted heating performance as well as control and
regulating devices. The disadvantages associated with conventional-type
electrical resistance heating elements (safety risks due to the use of
high voltages, considerable con-structional costs to ensure uniform
distribution of the primary heat) can be overcome with the sandwich
technology operating in the low voltage range. The new electric floor
heating is suitable for use in conjunction with all Kaindl laminate
flooring sys-tems .
* Individual formed
states of Germany have already passed new legislation concerning the new
installation of fixed built-in electrical heating, whereby 2 kW power
input per individual home or prem-ises has been set as the maximum upper
limit.
7) Kaindl presents
Laminated Flooring with Footstep Sound Reduction
System and Room Sound Proofing System: Kaindl
Flooring presents the latest technical innovation at the BAU 2001 trade
fair in Munich - "Masterfloor Silent" - the laminate flooring
fitted with the "Kaindl Footstep Sound Reduction and Room Sound
Proofing System". By means of a specially de-veloped laminating
combination the noise made by a person walking on this floor is reduced by
some 30 per cent (20-25 son units) compared with a normal laminate floor.
This claim is borne out by the results of acoustic-technical tests carried
out in the laboratories of the Institute for Building Materials and
Building Construction Physics at Innsbruck University. For this innovative
sound proofing system from Kaindl only an additional 8 mm in construction
elevation is required. With an overall height of only 17 mm the "Masterfloor
Silent" is ideally suitable for use in the renova-tion of old houses.
Patent protection has already been applied for to safeguard Kaindl's new
multi-layer sound proofing compound system against imitators. In the past
, adequate footstep sound reduction had only been possible in the building
sector by using two-shell con-structions (floating floor) or by using a
combination of heavy single-shell separating floors with soft-cushioning
walking surface lining*. The innovative Kaindl solution is midway between
the two and compared with the traditional single-layer constructions
brings about a considerable improvement in the room acoustics. With the "Master-floor
Silent" the advantages of the two-shell constructions can now be
matched by floor constructions having relatively modest surface areas of
the single layers.
* Floating floors
essentially entail relatively large constructional elevations and for this
reason are scarcely suitable in the renovation of old houses.
Soft-cushioned walking surface linings may not be taken into account when
calculating the minimum footstep sound reduction in most countries.
