World Market Boom
for Kaindl Products
M. Kaindl Holzindustrie
finished up the last financial year (10/1999 to 09/2000) with a business
performance in keeping with target. The Salzburg-based family business
employing a work force of 660 achieved an annual turnover of 3.4 billion
Austrian Schillings (247 million euros) and thus bettered its figures for
the year previous by 20 per cent. The number of employees grow from 660 up
to 740 in the last financial year. Commenting enthusiastically on this
result, Kaindl Managing Director, Werner Bechtold said: "We are
satisfied with this development and have set our sights on topping the
four-billion-Schilling level next time round."
Laminate flooring sales showed a 50 per cent increase in terms of
quantity to pass the 20 million square metres mark. This meant that the
demand for Kaindl laminate floorings last year was almost twice as high as
the general market trend. The export quota is meanwhile in excess of 90
per cent. More than 60 countries are now importing laminate floorings from
Kaindl, the leading markets being Germany, the USA, Canada and Poland
followed by China and the Netherlands. Alone in North America the company
was able to double its annual sales to 350 million Schillings. Bechtold
again: "In particular the laminate flooring systems designed for
installation without the use of glue, namely "Snap" and "CCS"
- and also our "Bigfoot" product series showed a highly
encouraging development in contributing to the international marketing
success."
The MDF production plant is working at full capacity. Some 50 per cent of
the medium density fibreboard (MDF) produced in this plant is used by
Kaindl itself - i.e. mainly for further processing into carrier material
for laminate floorings. There is a very lively demand for MDF panels in
various countries including Israel and Greece.
In the laminated chipboard sector, the world-wide growing awareness of
the need to respect the environment is opening up very good market
opportunities for low-emission panels which Kaindl has been producing
since as long ago as 1981. In keeping with this trend, Japan amongst other
countries, is expected to place bigger orders for laminated chipboard
panels.
